Mobile Streaming
As the mobile communications infrastructures around the world expand, streaming to wireless devices, such as cellular telephones and PDAs, has become a reality. This changes everything.
Opticodec-PC PE Streaming Encoder is fully compatible with the global 3GP standards used for mobile wireless streaming. It is currently the only standards-based AAC / HE-AAC / aacPlus audio-only encoder available for live streaming. With its companion Optimod-PC audio processor, Opticodec-PC provides loud, consistent, high quality streams that overcome the limitations of small speakers and cut through loud background noise often associated with mobile phone use. This is the kind of processing used by broadcast stations with hundreds of thousands of listeners to make a polished and professional sounding presentation.
Opticodec-PC AAC / HE-AAC / aacPlus streams and files can be played on various software, firmware, and hardware client players, including 3GPP/3GPP2 wireless devices. Client players are available for different computer operating systems or platforms and mobile devices. Not all player clients are created equal; they support different features and connection protocols.
Because of its dramatically better sound and increasing popularity of AAC / HE-AAC / aacPlus, new players are being added regularly.

Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 Based Devices
By default, Microsoft Windows Mobile Operating Systems include Windows Media Player which is only capable of playing inferior Windows Media streams. Usually these streams must be part of the mobile carrier walled garden network, which prevents outside content providers from being able to stream to these devices, even using Microsoft Media Servers and Encoders.
To enable a Microsoft Windows Mobile device to play AAC/HE--AAC/aacPlus, a Player must be downloaded and installed.
The Core Pocket Media Player (TCPMP) is available for this platform, and is capable of playing HTTP/ICY streams, even through networks using a walled garden.
