Q: Is my processor an 8500 (including HD) or 8500fm (no HD processing)?
The front panel screening of ALL units displays "8500 FM Digital Audio Processor". It's easy to be confused about which model you have.
Externally, both 8500 and 8500fm are IDENTICAL in appearance. The ONLY way to tell the difference by physical appearances is from the model label .
It's also possible to identify the difference from the Diagnostic 1 screen which displays either:
- OPTIMOD-FM 8500 (for the one with HD & FM processing)
- OPTIMOD-FM 8500fm (for the one with FM only processing)
There are other ways as well, such as Input/Output 7 screen. Note that the 8500 screen title is "HD Digital Radio" and has 5 parameters that are unavailable in the 8500fm screen, titled: "Diversity Delay".
