Astral Media Purchases 28 Optimod-FM 8600s

Scottsdale, AZ August 5th , 2011 – Orban, a worldwide leader in audio processing for AM, FM, TV and Internet broadcasting, announces the sale of 28 Optimod-FM 8600 digital processors to Astral Media, a Canadian multimedia company with 83 radio stations in 50 markets and 22 television stations. The sale was facilitated by Orban Authorized Dealer Solutions Broadcast RF (SBRF) of Montreal .

Astral Media's Manager of Technical Services Frédéric Vendette commented, “Our decision to purchase the Orban Optimod-FM 8600 was based on the fact that after the testing of numerous units from competing audio processor manufacturers, Astral found Orban had the best quality in sound.” The processors purchased will be working in the provinces of Quebec and Ontario, replacing several Optimod-FM 8200s that have been in service for the group for well over a decade. SBRF worked closely with Astral in arranging the demonstrations of the 8600, and noted that the reliability of Orban processors and satisfactory customer service over the years contributed to Astral's buying decision.

The Optimod-FM 8600 is Orban's flagship processor and the next step beyond the Optimod-FM 8500. Featuring versatile five-band and two-band processing for both analog FM transmission and digital media, the 8600 features dramatically improved peak limiter technology which decreases distortion while increasing transient punch and high frequency power handling capacity.
